One spectator was killed and two were critically injured in a shooting at a rally held by former President Donald Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania on Saturday evening. The incident, which occurred during a speech by Trump, sent shockwaves through the country and prompted a massive investigation by federal authorities.
According to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the suspect opened fire from a nearby hotel room, striking Trump in the ear. Trump was able to finish his speech before being taken to a local hospital for treatment. His injuries are not considered life-threatening.
The deceased victim has been identified as Corey Comperatore, a 47-year-old man from North Carolina. The two surviving victims are currently in stable condition.
The Trump campaign and the Republican National Committee have announced that their convention in Milwaukee will proceed as scheduled this week, despite the shooting.
