Sigourney Weaver to Make West End Debut as Prospero in The Tempest

Hollywood A-lister Sigourney Weaver will make her West End debut in a new production of William Shakespeare's The Tempest.

The American actress and film producer is to star in Jamie Lloyd's upcoming West End production of the classic play, which will open at the Duke of York's Theatre in December 2023.

Weaver will play the role of Prospero, the exiled Duke of Milan who uses his magic powers to create a storm and bring his enemies to justice.

The Jamie Lloyd Company's production of The Tempest will be a contemporary reimagining of the play, set in a world of magic and wonder.

Lloyd said: "I am thrilled to be working with Sigourney Weaver on this new production of The Tempest.

"She is an extraordinary actress who will bring her own unique interpretation to the role of Prospero.

"I can't wait to see her perform on the West End stage."

Weaver said: "I am very excited to be making my West End debut in The Tempest.

"It is a play that I have always loved, and I am looking forward to working with Jamie Lloyd and the rest of the cast and crew to bring this new production to life."
